Charnwood Life Sciences Campus
IPH are partnering with the Charnwood Life Sciences Campus. This provides us with an amazing opportunity to work closely with businesses, innovators and the HealthTech community across the Midlands, opening up collaborative research and training opportunities for the University of Leicester’s staff and students. The Charnwood Life Sciences Innovation and Technology Park is situated on the former Astra Zeneca Research and Development centre site. It is now a leading Science and Innovation Campus focusing on the MedTech and biopharmaceutical sector. Their key partners include the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), the Midlands Engine, Department for Science Innovation and Technology, and the Department for Business and Trade. In addition, they host state-of-the-art research and development labs for contract research organisations (CROs) and contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs).
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is nationally and internationally-renowned for specialist treatment and services in diabetes and cardio-respiratory diseases, ECMO, cancer and renal disorders, and reaches a further two to three million patients from the rest of the country.
Leicestershire Academic Health Partners (LAHP)
The Leicestershire Academic Health Partners (LAHP) is a strategic collaboration between, University of Leicester, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicester Partnership NHS Trust, Leicestershire Integrated Care Board and East Midlands Academic Health Science Network. This powerful alliance aims to bring together academia, healthcare providers and industry to drive research, innovation and excellence in patient care.
The Leicestershire Academic Health Partners strength lies in its interdisciplinary approach, combining expertise from various fields including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Engineering and more. By fostering collaboration, LAHP accelerates the translation of research into practice for the benefit of LLR Patients.
The LAHP is committed to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Through its collaborative networks, LAHP brings together researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to facilitate the sharing of ideas, expertise and resources. This creates a vibrant ecosystem for innovation and enables the development of novel solutions to healthcare challenges. The LAHP is also dedicated to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through its education and training programs, LAHP provides opportunities for students and healthcare professionals to gain valuable experience, learn from experts, and contribute to cutting-edge research and improvement initiatives.

Medilink Midlands
Transforming the healthcare industry by connecting academics, businesses and clinicians. Medilink Midlands is the Midlands life science industry association whose aim is to help companies establish, develop and grow.
IPH’s Medilink Midlands patronage ensures that the whole University has the ability to access gateways for interaction with health-related and other businesses by providing specialist support. Read more about Medilink Midlands.

Charitable partnerships
Hope Against Cancer
Hope Against Cancer works in partnership with Leicester’s Universities and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust to facilitate pioneering research, supporting a hub of expertise in cancer research and treatment. Since Hope was set up in 2003, they have supported over 70 projects across a wide variety of cancer types, with a focus on prevention, early detection, and innovative treatments. In 2012 Hope established and opened a dedicated Cancer Trials Centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary to offer patients access to new medicines and therapies. More recently, Hope Against Cancer raised a further £1.5 million to upgrade and double the clinical footprint for the Cancer Trials Centre, enabling more patients to benefit from ground-breaking new medicines.
Hope provides funding that is aligned to the Leicester Cancer Research Centre’s strategy, helping to deliver research of the highest calibre that results in clear patient benefit.
Maara
Maara is the Midlands Asthma and Allergy Research Association, working with asthma and allergy specialists within the East Midlands to investigate better treatments and improve understanding within the field.
