New Students
If you are a new student please see the Collecting Your Student ID card page on the University's Welcome pages.
Replacement Cards
If your student ID card has been lost or stolen during your studies, you will need to request a replacement.
- If you are a campus-based student, you can obtain a replacement student ID card by visiting the Information Hub at the University Library during staffed opening hours.
- If you are a distance-learning student, you can email studentservices@leicester.ac.uk instead.
Please be aware that new and replacement student ID cards can take up to 48 hours to update on the University systems before they will fully work.
Updating your Name or Photo on your student ID card
You may wish to update your name or photo on your student ID. For information on how to do this, please see the personal information section on the Information Hub pages.
Any updates to your name or photo usually take 24 hours to update on the card creation software. You will therefore be able to obtain a replacement card with the updated information after 24 hours.

No payment is currently required for replacement cards.
My card is faulty - should I get a replacement?
Whether or not a replacement is needed will depend upon on the fault, please try the troubleshooting guidance in the first instance.
I've finished my studies but lost my student ID card - can I get a new one?
We can only create student ID cards for current students, therefore, unfortunately, once your studies have ended, no further cards can be made. We recommend keeping your card safe if you would like to keep it as a memento of your time at the University.
