This course is designed for all healthcare professionals and trainees—regardless of specialty or level of experience—who want to enhance their communication skills, reduce burnout, and strengthen their connection to patients. It is suitable for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and others working in clinical or patient-facing roles.

Overview

This engaging half-day webinar is designed for healthcare professionals and trainees who want to reconnect with the human side of care, understand the evidence for empathy in healthcare, and explore practical approaches to integrating empathy into everyday clinical interactions.

Participants will learn about evidence-based empathy tools and frameworks, hear real patient stories, and reflect on their experiences in a supportive environment.

Feedback from previous participants:

  • “Brilliant session, thank you so much”
  • “It was a good eye-opener - how empathy can make a huge difference in my daily consultations”
  • “I think it was very surprising how much empathy can greatly affect the outcome of a consultation, and I think I don't realise how very small tweaks to how you perform achieves this”

By the end of the course, participants will

  • Understand the evidence linking empathy with improved patient, practitioner, and system outcomes.
  • Learn about verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to support empathic care.
  • Recognise common barriers to empathy in healthcare settings.
  • Reflect on personal experiences of empathy as a patient or practitioner.

Explore tools such as the CARE Measure and BATHE technique to enhance everyday consultations.

The course follows an interactive webinar format, including:
