Climate and Environmental Futures

Understanding past, present and future environmental change, its impacts, and the processes that shape our planet. Our research combines Earth observation, remote sensing and environmental data science to understand changing landscapes, including land management, fire disturbance, deforestation and forest degradation.

We use high-performance computing to analyse large satellite datasets and data-driven reconstructions of past climate change to improve understanding and prediction of future climate change.

Much of our research is conducted through the University’s Institute for Environmental Futures, Centre for Palaeobiology and Biosphere Evolution, and the International Oil Drilling Programme.
