Biography

Professor Teela Sanders is the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

Teela was awarded a DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford in 2003 and went on to work at the University of Leeds for thirteen years until she joined the University of Leicester in 2016 as Professor of Criminology.

From 2021 she held the Dean of Research role for the College until taking up the interim Head of College role in August 2024. Teela remains engaged in research and policy activities around gender, crime and violence and is the lead academic for the Sex Work and Policing working group at the National Police Chiefs Council.
