Alison Phillips writes:

Sue was a much loved, highly valued and respected member of our team whose professionalism, dedication and expertise will leave a lasting impression on everyone who worked alongside her.

Sue worked at the University for over 25 years. Over that time, she made huge contributions to the teams she was part of and built close working relationships and deep friendships across our team and the wider University.

Sue joined the University of Leicester in 2001 to become part of the team that develop and support our Finance, HR and Payroll system, she immediately showed her warm, gentle and humorous nature.

Throughout her career at University of Leicester, Sue consistently demonstrated integrity, reliability and a strong commitment to excellence. A very dedicated professional whose system expertise was vast, Sue had an amazing ability to explain the most complex issues to any level whilst being supportive and full of encouragement and praise. She always made time to help her colleagues no matter how busy she was. Her knowledge, calm approach and willingness to support others made her a trusted presence within the team and a mentor to many.

Sue spent some of her career working in the turret in the Fielding Johnson Building with her colleagues. She had a poster which said “If there is no chocolate in heaven I’m not going” which made us all laugh; we are sure she’s first in line at the chocolate fountain.

Sue was always talking lovingly about her family and was so excited with each and every new grandchild. She also gave the best hugs with the biggest smile! Sue wasn’t just a colleague she was part of a family at work.

Sue will be remembered with great respect and appreciation by all who had the privilege of working with her. Her contribution will be remembered with gratitude and admiration.

Sue will be missed terribly by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
