Peer mentoring scheme

Our peer mentoring scheme helps new students to settle in to life at the University of Leicester, by providing peer to peer support.

The peer mentoring scheme provides a friendly point of contact for all new students joining the university. Upon signing up for the scheme, you will be appointed a mentor, who is a current student at the university. Your mentor will be purely pastoral, not academic, meaning that they will be able to answer questions about student life and listen to you, their mentee, if you encounter any problems. They have been trained in how to guide you to the best support service when needed.

I’m a new student, why should I sign up?

  • To receive a friendly point of contact as you’re joining the University and get hints and tips on making the most of your student experience.
  • To get support if you have any difficulties or worries.
  • Have the opportunity to make new friends and be a part of something that celebrates the diversity of student life in an informal, fun and sociable way.
