Studying at university will be different from anything you have done before. Our caring and approachable staff are here to help you achieve your career aspirations. We engage our students as partners in developing the curriculum and put them at the heart of our learning.

Blackboard

Blackboard, our virtual learning environment gives you access to everything that you need for your course online. You can find lecture slides and notes uploaded by your tutors, as well as reading lists and links to any online resources. You work online with you friends as well as find out about timetabling and important announcements from your department.

We know different students prefer to learn in different ways and at different paces; we record our teaching sessions and make the recording available for students to view via blackboard giving them the flexibility and control to view a lecture in their own time.

Learning Development

Our Learning Development Team offers a range of resources and support to help you develop your academic skills. You can access online courses, printed or downloadable guides, take part in workshops or even have a one-to-one consultation - it’s all designed to be flexible and tailored to fit around you

IT Services

When you register with the University, you will get your University of Leicester email address and username. This will give you access to 1,400 PCs across campus (as well as printers, scanners and photocopiers) plus software and e-learning resources.

While you’re on-campus, you can access the internet for free on your own devices, via the Wi-Fi connection in all of our teaching and social space. Training and technical support is available to help you get the most from our – and your – IT facilities, and to ensure that technical matters don’t get in the way of your learning.

Maths help

The University's Mathematics Help Centre provides support with mathematics and statistics related queries and problems for students from all disciplines. Our tutors come from a range of different academic subject backgrounds (from science and engineering to social sciences) but all are be happy to help out with questions and queries relating to your discipline.

Languages at Leicester

In today's global economy, being able to speak different languages can be a valuable business asset. Through Languages at Leicester you can learn one of 17 different languages. There are various levels – you can start from scratch or improve on your existing skills - and it's open to everyone.
