International undergraduate tuition fee waiver
The University of Leicester is delighted to offer 150 tuition fee waivers over the next five years to international undergraduate students. This begins with 30 tuition fee waivers available for applicants starting in September 2026.
What’s on offer?
A full tuition fee waiver will be awarded to 30 international fee-paying undergraduate students starting an undergraduate programme in September 2026. Applications will go live on 18 November 2025.
Eligibility
- You must be starting a full-time undergraduate programme* at the University of Leicester, UK campus commencing in September 2026 for year one, two or three of your undergraduate programme for a maximum of three years.
- You must have made Leicester your 'firm choice' by 30 June 2026 (if you have applied through UCAS you will need to reply by your UCAS reply deadline, which may be earlier than this date).
- You should achieve the equivalent to two grades above the standard A-level entry requirement.**
- All conditions of your offer must be met by 20 August 2026.
- You must be classed as an international student for fee purposes.
* Excluding Medicine, LLB Maitrise, STEM International Foundation, 'International Year 1' courses and for programmes that exceed three years in duration.
** For example, if the standard A-level entry requirement is advertised as ABB, this fee waiver will be awarded to applicants who achieve the equivalent to A-level AAA or higher in an international qualification (see our country pages for equivalents in our most common qualifications). Discretion will be applied where an equivalent level is not practically attainable within the marking scheme of particular international qualifications.
What do I need to do?
To be considered, you need to create a short video (no more than two minutes) which answers these three questions:
- What do you want to achieve after university?
- How will your chosen degree help you achieve this?
- How will you contribute to the University community while you’re here?
Submit your video within the application form. Applications will go live on 18 November 2025.
Videos should be submitted as a link to Google Drive, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Wechat Video or Douyin in the section indicated in the application form.
We're not looking for film-making or acting skills, but instead how you approach and answer the questions. And, you don’t need to be in the video yourself if you don’t want to be.
Alongside the video submission we will also take into consideration your Personal Statement and any extracurricular activities you have highlighted in the application form.
Scoring
How are we scoring your videos? We are looking at three main categories, and we’ve included some guidance below to show you what we will be looking out for.
Realism
In this category, we’re looking at the feasibility of your answers. Is it possible and do your answers show you’ve given thought and consideration to the viability of your plans for your university life and your future?
Creativity
By creativity, we don’t mean how good your video skills are. This is about your thought process, your idea and how you’ve approached the topic and how you’ve demonstrated your idea. Does your plan stand out from the crowd?
Impact
At Leicester, we are Citizens of Change working for a better future through diverse understanding and ambitious research. We champion diversity and unite in our ambition to pursue knowledge that has an impact in making our world a better place. Will your plans for during and after your degree impact the world for the better? No matter how big or small we will be looking at how well you have demonstrated the impact you could make in the world.

- The fee waiver will not apply for periods of industrial placement or overseas exchange, resit years or if you suspend your studies for any reason.
- Please refer to the relevant course page for the current placement fee.
- If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfil any conditions stated on your offer letter. The award will be applied to tuition fees only and is not transferable.
- Successful students will still be required to fund their own accommodation and living expenses.
- No other university scholarships or discounts may be applied in addition to this fee waiver (unless explicitly stated).

You will be considered under the funding arrangements for the new academic year and will need to reapply.
