International Citizens of Change Scholarship

The University of Leicester is proud to welcome 100s of students from around the world each year who all make a positive contribution to the study environment and diversity of our university community. To highlight our commitment to supporting Citizens of Change internationally as well as locally, the University is delighted to be offering 10 International Citizens of Change Scholarships for the September 2026 intake worth £10,000 per year for up to three years.

What's on offer?

A £10,000 tuition fee discount will be awarded to 10 undergraduate international fee-paying students starting an undergraduate programme in September 2026 for each year of their course for up to three years.

Eligibility

  • You must be starting a full-time undergraduate programme* at the University of Leicester, UK campus commencing in September 2026 for year one, two or three of your undergraduate programme.
  • You must have made Leicester your 'firm choice' by Tuesday 30 June 2026 (if you have applied via UCAS, you will need to reply by your UCAS reply deadline, which may be earlier than this date).
  • All conditions of your offer must be met no later than Thursday 20th August 2026
  • You must be classed as an international student for fee purposes.

*Excluding Medicine, LLB Maitrise, STEM International Foundation and 'International Year 1' courses.

What do I need to do?

To be considered, you need to create a short video (no more than two minutes) which answers these three questions:

    1. What do you want to achieve after university?
    2. How will your chosen degree help you achieve this?
    3. How will you contribute to the University community while you’re here?

Submit your video in application form

Videos should be submitted as a link to Google Drive, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Wechat Video or Douyin in the section indicated in the application form. We're not looking for film-making or acting skills, but instead how you approach and answer the questions.

You don’t need to be in the video yourself if you don’t want to be. Alongside the video submission, we will also take into consideration your Personal Statement and any extracurricular activities you have highlighted in the application form

Scoring categories

You will be scored based on three main categories:

Realism: In this category, we’re looking at the feasibility of your answers. Is it possible and do your answers show you’ve given thought and consideration to the viability of your plans for your university life and your future?

Creativity: By creativity, we don’t mean how good your video skills are. This is about your thought process, your idea and how you’ve approached the topic and how you’ve demonstrated your idea. Does your plan stand out from the crowd?

Impact: At Leicester, we are Citizens of Change working for a better future through diverse understanding and ambitious research. We champion diversity and unite in our ambition to pursue knowledge that has an impact in making our world a better place. Will your plans for during and after your degree impact the world for the better? No matter how big or small we will be looking at how well you have demonstrated the impact you could make in the world.

Terms and conditions

  • You must be starting a full-time, campus-based undergraduate course*, commencing in September 2026.
  • The fee discount will not apply for periods of industrial placement or overseas exchange, resit years or if you suspend your studies for any reason.
Please refer to the relevant course page for the current placement fee.
  • If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfil any conditions stated on your offer letter. The award will be applied to tuition fees only and is not transferable.
  • Successful students will still be required to fund their own accommodation and living expenses.
  • No other university scholarships or discounts may be applied in addition to this fee discount (unless explicitly stated).
  • If you are a sponsored student or a student from a partner university, you may still qualify for this fee discount provided you meet all other eligibility criteria.
  • This fee discount applies only to the academic year in which you start your course, not the year you apply.
