Why study Journalism?

Journalism shapes how we view the world. Our Journalism BA offers you the opportunity to do journalism, study journalism and be assessed in both. You'll learn to think like a journalist and be prepared for a vast range of communications careers - and you'll have fun on the way.

What makes the Leicester course special?

You'll learn core skills and key skills across all platforms. Our course offers a broad focus on all aspects of Journalism – from digital and social media to print and broadcast media. Specialist pathways will allow you to focus on the areas that interest you the most - e.g. sports or political journalism.

How will I be taught and assessed?

Interactive workshops in the computer lab make up the largest proportion of your learning, alongside lectures and seminars. You'll be assessed on practical work, group work and presentations, as well as portfolios and essays. There will also be one exam in your first year.

What support is there during the course?

You'll have a dedicated Personal Tutor who will support you all the way through your course, as well as a fantastic Support Office to answer any queries. You'll also be able to air your views through your student reps, and take part in student societies. The University also offers welfare and support services.

How will you help my career prospects?

Our course offers an equal focus on the practice and the theory – meaning you can go into professional careers or postgraduate study after your degree. All students are automatically enrolled in the University's 'The Leicester Award' scheme - enabling you to gain career experience as you study.
