University Shuttle Bus

Our regular term-time bus service between The Village and the University of Leicester Campus, via Brookfield School of Business (and Stoughton Road Playing Fields on Wednesday afternoons) is the University Shuttle Bus, run directly by the University and operated by Centrebus.

The shuttle bus is primarily for student residents staying in accommodation throughout their contract. It’s free and doesn’t require a bus pass. Other students can also use the shuttle to access facilities in Oadby, but please remember to carry your student ID.

Bus timings

You can download the Centrebus Bus Tracker app to get real-time information on when the next bus is due and service updates. Note that the free University shuttlebus from University to Village accommodation runs Monday to Saturday and operates only during term-time. Please note that the bus timetable will vary throughout the year and is subject to change.

Using your bus pass

Your free bus pass will be uploaded to your student ID card, so there’s no additional paper pass. All you have to do is tap your student card on the reader when you get on the bus.

How to activate your bus pass on your student card

You will need to make sure that you have activated the bus pass on your student card before you start using it on the bus.

  1. As a resident in accommodation, your bus pass will already be added to your student ID card
  2. Before the first use, hold your student card against any card reader for communal spaces (such as Olive Banks Study Space) for about ten seconds until the reader shows green. Alternatively you can hold the card against any of the attendance monitors on campus used for seminars/lectures
  3. Once you have done this, your card is active to be used on the bus.
