Postgraduates
PGCE applications
Applications for all routes into teaching, including Lead Partners, must be made online through the UCAS Teacher Training (UCASTT) website. Please note that for Lead Partners courses the school is listed as the training provider, not the University of Leicester. UCASTT sends Lead Partners applications to both the school and the University.
You are strongly advised to read our advice for applicants, as well as the UCASTT entry profiles for our PGCE courses, before completing your application. These set out in detail the selection criteria for courses and full information about the activities carried out during the interview and selection process.
If you are applying for a Lead Partners PGCE, your application will be considered by both the University and the school to which you have applied. Lead Partners applicants will first be required to attend a school-based selection day, giving you the opportunity to experience first-hand the environment in which you would complete much of your training. If you are successful, you will be invited to attend a University selection/interview day where you will meet other PGCE applicants and find out more about the support the University can offer you.
The UCASTT Institution Code for our non-Lead Partners PGCE is LEICR L34. Lead Partners Institution Codes can be found on our Lead Partners pages. All our courses are full-time non-modular programmes.
When to apply
In view of the high demand for our PGCE courses, to give yourself the best chance of obtaining a place we strongly advise you to apply as soon as possible after the recruitment cycle opens. This is usually the beginning of November.
