Dr Dan Stewart
Lecturer in Ancient History
I am fascinated by the Romans in Greece and their impact on Greek culture (and vice versa!). I have a field project investigating the Roman city that lies on top of Minoan Knossos.
Dr Rachel Crellin
Lecturer in Archaeology
I’m an archaeologist who studies the Neolithic and Bronze Age of Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man. I am also an expert in metalwork wear-analysis of tools and weapons.
Dr Jan Haywood
I am interested in all aspects of ancient Greek history and culture, and have particular expertise in ancient history-writing and Greek religion. I am also fascinated about the ways in which the classical past has been interpreted in the modern world.
Dr Alice Samson
Lecturer in Archaeology
I’m a lecturer in archaeology and teach topics close to my heart, including colonialism in the Americas, World Archaeology AD and BC, and a module on religion and belief.
Dr Andy Merrills
Associate Professor in Ancient History
I’m interested in the history of the later Roman Empire, North Africa, ancient and medieval geography, and assorted groups of barbarians (with and without beards).
