Festival of Careers

Every October our Career Development Service puts on a week long programme of events to help you get involved and work out the next steps in your career journey.

The Festival is a great place to meet employers and providers of further study to discuss your future in detail. This will allow you to find out what employers look for beyond your degree; what skills and experience you should focus on developing to make sure you stand out for the right reasons during the recruitment process.

The key to meeting employers at the Festival of Careers is the prep that you'll do with the Career Development Service beforehand, meaning that you'll make a winning first impression and genuine connection with a potential future employer.

Over the course of the week there will also be a range of talks and activities on a range of topics, including:

  • Finding part-time work

  • Help with online psychometric testing

  • Support for postgraduate students

  • Support for international students

  • Support for mature students

  • LinkedIn labs - help with setting up your online profile

  • Business start up advice

  • Further study

  • Graduate jobs

  • 12-month placements

  • Internships.

"Myself and my colleagues were extremely impressed with the calibre of students we spoke to. Especially with the preparation and thought they had put in before attending the event … which meant we were able to give them advice rather than generic information." - Farida Lockhat, Jaguar LandRover
