As a nurse and mature student, the course has really enabled me to explore the wealth of evidence that supports our understanding of the brain and how it works and has made a positive contribution to the development of my existing clinical skills in workplace health and wellbeing.

I live in Zambia, although I’m originally from South Africa. I’ve always had a deep passion for understanding and helping people, and this course has provided the perfect opportunity to formalise and expand my knowledge in the field of psychology—all while continuing to live and work in Zambia.
I was drawn to this programme not only for its academic rigour but also for its commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The course content reflects a global perspective on psychology, and being part of an international student body, guided by lecturers from various cultural and professional backgrounds, has enriched my learning experience enormously.
One of the most valuable aspects of the programme has been its flexibility. I can engage with lectures and coursework at times that suit my schedule, which has been crucial for balancing study and work commitments. Initially, I was concerned that studying remotely might feel isolating and lacking in support—but I’ve found the opposite to be true. The level of support from lecturers, fellow students, student services, and my personal tutor and mentor has been outstanding and has made distance learning not only manageable but truly rewarding.
The greatest challenge for me has been not being on campus and missing the day-to-day, in-person interactions with peers and lecturers—something I particularly value as a people-oriented person. That said, the live online sessions and interactive elements of the course have gone a long way toward bridging that gap and creating a strong sense of community.

As a cyber security professional, people are the weakest link in the chain, so understanding the psychology behind them is crucial. The Psychology MSc degree at the University of Leicester provided me with a solid foundation, while learning to apply them in the real world. The best thing is the ability to balance a full-time job, while attending to your studies, as all learning is asynchronous.
All of the staff is friendly, supportive and always eager to answer any questions. We’ve started a WhatsApp group with my fellow classmates while learning and supporting each other. While you will graduate with a Psychology MSc, the course is demanding and you need to balance your time effectively, plan ahead and take care of your mind and body.

The course changed the way I thought about people and understanding behaviours, which are all things I can apply to both my personal and professional life.
The support is there. Even from 10,000 miles away (Australia) and an 11 hour time difference, people were always willing to help. Staff were on hand to speak to me at a fairly alien time to Leicester and always listened to any questions that I had.

The course was a great introduction into psychology, and a very good base on which I can now build on. Both the teaching staff and the distance learning team are very supportive and always make time for the students. I am excited to use the knowledge and skills gained during this course for my new career path!

I chose this course because I was seeking something that would truly challenge my thinking and support my growth, both personally and professionally. A big motivation was my daughter, who has inspired me to better understand children and people in general. I wanted to learn more about child development and the influence of parenting.
What initially drew me in was how well-structured and thoughtfully planned it is. The two-year outline, with clear dates and topics, really appealed to my need for organization. The consistent presentation and weekly routine also created a sense of safety and predictability that helped me stay grounded.
The best part of this course is how practical and relevant the content is. It goes beyond theory, every topic has real-world application, and I often find myself reflecting on it in everyday life.
The teaching is clear, the learning platform is easy to navigate, and the opportunities for discussion and reflection have been incredibly valuable. I’ve felt consistently supported by the lecturers, whose encouragement and responsiveness make a real difference.
Admittedly, each new module feels like unlocking a new language, overwhelming at first. However, by the seventh week, the pieces begin to fall into place, and that sense of achievement is deeply rewarding. This course has not only expanded my understanding but has also inspired me to keep learning and growing.

I didn't have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, so I was searching for a conversion course for a Master's degree. At the University of Leicester, I found this course, which allows us to schedule our time flexibly for work and study. Furthermore, the modules looked interesting.
The best part was that students were fully engaged, and it wasn't just a bunch of quizzes and lectures. Throughout all my assignments in each subject, I went through the steps of finding the references, reading them, and writing the final report, one by one. It was very challenging at first for me, as I was used to only being taught. Still, it gave me a sense of accomplishment and pride that I was able to take ownership of each assignment.
The biggest challenge was, of course, the language barrier. As an international student whose first language is not English, I struggled to understand and follow the lectures compared to my peers. However, the personal tutor program significantly helped me. I could always ask my tutor for help if I had any difficulties. In addition, the University offers a program that provides one-on-one consulting on statistics, study methods, and writing skills for international students, which has helped me progress this far without giving up.
