University of Leicester signs agreement with Shanghai Polytechnic University

The University of Leicester has strengthened its ties with Shanghai Polytechnic University following a visit to the United Kingdom.
Delegates from Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) visited the University of Leicester on Friday, 16 May to explore further areas of strategic cooperation across teaching, research and international academic exchange.
Shanghai Polytechnic University, based in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, near the China Pilot Free Trade Zone, is known for its emphasis on applied research and industry collaboration.
An agreement with the University of Leicester was signed by Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, Professor Henrietta O’Connor, and Vice President of Shanghai Polytechnic University, Professor Xu Yufang.
Professor Henrietta O’Connor said: “We are so pleased to strengthen our partnership with Shanghai Polytechnic University and are looking forward to welcoming its researchers and students to our campus for further study in the UK. We also welcome the opportunity for joint research projects and collaborative research with SSPU, building on their expertise in applied research and industry collaboration.”
Professor Xu Yufang, Vice President of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, said: “The University of Leicester is a distinguished institution known for its strength in both teaching and research. Its emphasis on research-inspired teaching and the integration of research and education is something we greatly admire and hope to learn from. We look forward to future collaboration between our two universities, particularly in joint student training and international research, with the aim of progressing together and achieving mutual benefit.”
