University to hold series of public events as part of Festival of Social Science
The University of Leicester will host a series of events as part of the UK’s biggest celebration of social science research.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science is an annual celebration of the importance and values of economics and social science.
This year marks the 20th year of the festival, with events running at the University from 21 October to 11 November.
Leicester will host a variety of free public events which will be held both online and in person.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘my local area’ with many of the University’s events focusing on Leicester’s social and economic history, dialect, political history and the future of the high street.
Events will include:
- The appeal of hybrid working – 21 October, 3pm-4pm
- Young People’s Law Reform Club – 22 October, 10am-4pm
- Public screening of COVID-19 vaccine promotion videos: engaging with Chinese communities – 23 October
- Criminology Goes to the Movies: Film Season (Hot Fuzz) – 27 October, 6:30pm-9:45pm
- How to pay your staff: Individual and team based performance related pay – 28 October, 10am-10:30am
- Criminology Goes to the Movies: Film Season (Rebel Without a Cause) – 1 November, 6:30pm-9:45pm
- Criminology Goes to the Movies: Film Season (12 Angry Men) – 3 November, 6:30pm-9:45pm
- Secure Hardware Adoption, Data Sharing and the Protection of Personal Data – 7 November, 10:30am-12:30pm
- What makes us safe? How we can improve patient safety together – 8 November, 2:30pm-4pm.
- Criminology Goes to the Movies: Film Season (Four Lions) – 8 November, 6:30pm-9:45pm
- Public screening of COVID-19 vaccine promotion videos: engaging with Chinese communities – 9 November 2022
- Creativity as Research Practice: Exploring peace and conflict through women’s voices – 9 November, 11am-5pm
- What makes us safe? How we can improve patient safety together – 9 November, 6:30pm-8pm.
