Two thousand visitors expected to attend Family Day at Botanic Garden

The University of Leicester Botanic Garden will open its gates to members of the public next week for its annual family day.

The event will be held on Sunday 26th June and it will feature specialist plant stalls, arts and crafts, free children’s and family activities, music and entertainment. It’s also an opportunity for visitors to learn about the work being done by The Friends of the University of Leicester Botanic Garden, including research botany, horticulture, conservation and sustainability.

Richard Gornall, Director of the Botanic Garden, says:

“Our 16 acres of gardens and greenhouses are the most diverse horticultural area in the East Midlands.  Whether people are looking for plants for their garden, craft items for gifts, or an enjoyable day out with family, friends and neighbours, there will be something for everyone and we are really looking forward to welcoming all members of the public to the Botanic Garden for this exciting day out.”

The annual event attracts around 2000 visitors of all ages. Refreshments will be served in Beaumont Hall and the event will run from 10am until 5pm. The entrance fee is £5 per adult and children are free.
