Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Team helps on farm, adopts sheep
For their team away day this week, the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team volunteered at Gorse Hill City Farm. Located on the outskirts of Leicester city centre, this registered charity is a working farm and community project dedicated to the welfare of animals and to providing a fun and educational experience for all.
The EDI Team were set to work staining shelters on the farm, helping to provide them with added protection. With help from Gorse Hill staff and the local surprise guests, like Spirit the Sheep, the team had a fantastic and productive volunteering away day.
The University of Leicester encourages and supports all its staff undertaking volunteering projects within the local community. Projects like the EDI Team away day reflect the University’s commitment to both Community Engagement and Staff Health and Wellbeing.
As a thank you, the City Farm presented the EDI Team with an adoption certificate for their newest team member, Smiley the Herdwick Sheep.
