University of Leicester statement: In memory of Paul Radcliffe
It is with great sadness that Paul Radcliffe,18, has today been named as the University of Leicester student who died in a hit and run collision in Oadby at the weekend.
The incident happened in Stoughton Drive South in Oadby, at around 12.30am on Saturday 19 January.
Police officers stopped at the scene and East Midlands Ambulance Service were also called but tragically, Paul was confirmed to have died at the scene of the incident.
Specialist officers from Leicestershire Police and the University’s Student Support Services are supporting Paul’s family at this sad and difficult time.
Professor Paul Monks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Science and Engineering said:
“We are all deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of Paul Radcliffe, who was a first year student studying on our General Engineering BEng (Foundation) programme.
“Paul had already shown much promise during his time here at Leicester. He was much loved by his fellow students and had established a group of close friends. He will be greatly missed by our staff and students.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends at this sad and difficult time. We will continue to offer and provide support to anyone within our University community who knew Paul and has been affected by this tragic incident.”
