Universitys Botanic Garden to host Plant Sale Family Day
The University’s Botanic Garden, on Glebe Road in Oadby, is to host the next of its popular Plant Sale & Family Days on Sunday 1 July, 10.00am – 5.00pm. Taking place in 16 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the event is the Botanic Garden’s biggest annual public open day, and an important fixture in the community calendar.
On a sunny day, the Botanic Garden welcomes between 1,500-2,000 visitors of all ages who can buy a wide range of plants and spend the day exploring a variety of stalls.
There will be specialist plant nurseries, arts and crafts stalls with sales and activities, environmental and wildlife societies with information, activities and entertainments. A local band will also perform in the Garden while you enjoy refreshments on the lawn.
Richard Gornall, Director of the Botanic Garden, says: “Whether you are looking for plants for your garden, craft items for gifts, or an enjoyable day out with family, friends and neighbours, there is something for everyone.”
Entry costs £5 for adults and children under 16 are free. For duration of the Plant Sale & Family Day, no dogs will be permitted into the Botanic Garden except for assistance dogs. All proceeds will go to the Friends of the Botanic Garden, who spend the money directly for the benefit of the Garden and its work.
