University celebrates LGBT History Month
LGBT+ History Month is being marked at our University with a myriad of events from 12 to 28 February.
The University has been rated as one of the top 100 employers in Stonewall’s Workplace index. Leicester was placed at 44 in Stonewall’s top 100 employers list, a jump of more than 200 places, which highlights the fantastic work which has taken place across the University.
Alongside the events that the Students’ Union is holding for Pride Week, the University is hosting talks, gaming, a quiz, discussions, workshops, performance and film screenings.
Dr Kate Williams, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Equality and Diversity at the University, said: “This past year has seen a huge amount of activity on campus to celebrate our LGBT+ staff and students. Being ranked 44th in Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers is fantastic recognition of the efforts to make the University a truly welcoming environment for all and we look forward to building on that achievement.
“Colleagues have put together a really interesting and varied programme of events for LGBT+ History Month again this year and I would encourage everyone to come along to these events and get involved. By working together, we can realise our ambition to make the University a truly inclusive place to work and study.”
