Additional tickets available for David Attenborough lecture

Due to unprecedented demand for tickets for Sir David Attenborough’s lecture ‘Beauty in Nature’ on Thursday 28 January, the venue for the event has been changed to De Montfort Hall which offers increased capacity.

With extra free tickets now available due to the larger venue, there are even more opportunities for the public to hear from the respected naturalist and broadcaster when he visits the city.

Such was the popularity of the lecture, the first batch of tickets were snapped up within 90 seconds as more than 20,000 people visited the  booking site within the first few minutes of them becoming available.

Now that the venue has been moved from the Peter Williams and Ken Edwards lecture theatres on campus to De Montfort Hall over 500 additional tickets have been made available to staff, students and the general public.

Sir David Attenborough will be returning to the place of his Leicester childhood to deliver the University’s flagship Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture as well as open a new fully-inclusive gallery at the Attenborough Arts Centre which was championed by his late brother Lord Attenborough.

The lecture will start at 5pm on Thursday 28 January.

Tickets will be made available through a ballot system in place once members of the public have registered their interest. Once the ballot is closed, those allocated pairs of tickets will be selected at random and notified within 24 hours.

To register for a pair of tickets, follow the link here and complete the application form for the general public at: www.le.ac.uk/distinguished-lectures

The ballot will close at 11:59pm on Monday 18 January 2016.

Send your questions to: events@le.ac.uk . Please include your name, age, address and telephone number

Deadline for submission of questions is Wednesday 20th January.  Those selected to put their questions will be informed by Monday 25 January and each will receive a ticket for them and a guest to attend the lecture.
