The Centre for New Writing is the university’s interdisciplinary research centre with a focus on developing new directions in contemporary creative writing of all kinds. It works closely with other subjects to develop creative strands for research projects. In the past, the Centre has collaborated with subjects as wide-ranging as Mathematics, Media Studies, History and Museum Studies. We have helped widen output, impact and environment in successful research funding bids, and aided researchers in building dynamic narratives about their own work.

We organise an annual series of author workshops, masterclasses and other events that tie into our undergraduate, PGT and PGR teaching. Our members participate in organizing the university’s annual literary festival, Literary Leicester.
