This is for you if you have completed and passed either the full Signature BSL Level 1 Award (Units 101, 102 and 103).

Courses starting in October 2026

• Course: Wednesdays 6.00pm - 9.00pm*
  Delivery: On-campus (face-to-face)
  Timeline: Starts 7 October 2026 - ends 26 July 2027 (28 weeks, plus 4 Saturdays). It is a complete course. It is not divided into different units like the Level One Award. The course will take place one evening a week and on 4 Saturdays (see timetable below).
  
  • Term 1: 11 weeks from October to December 2026
  • Term 2: 11 weeks from January to March 2027
  • Term 3: 6 weeks from April to July 2027
  Length: 28 weeks (150 learning hours: 100 guided hours and 50 independent learning hours)
  Fees: Full course £870 (fee includes all exams). This is payable in full or in three instalments of £290.00 as outlined below.

  Exam fees: Signature's Level 2 Exams fees are included in the course fee (Unit 201: £51; Unit 202: £62; and Unit 203: £62).

These courses will be taught in small groups. The on-campus course requires a minimum of 8 and it can have up to a maximum of 12 students. Course fee includes all tuition, handouts and any tests/exams, but not a textbook. 

The course is delivered across three terms: October to December, January to March and April to July. The full programme comprises 150 learning hours, of which 100 are guided learning hours provided to the group rather than to individual learners. Guided learning hours include lessons and examination days. Evening classes are three hours in duration and take place once a week. Saturday classes comprise four hours of teaching. By enrolling on the course, you are committing to the full 28-week programme.

A pass in BSL Level 1 Award:

• Part 1, Unit 101
• Part 2, Unit 102
• Part 3, Unit 103

Or the full iBSL Level 1 Award (Units 1A1, 1A2 and 1A3).

Qualification aim

This Level 2 Certificate qualification in British Sign Language is designed to enable learners to develop their skills to communicate with Deaf people using British Sign Language (BSL) in a range of everyday situations. The qualification will allow learners to participate in longer and more varied conversations than at Level 1. The course will develop communication in BSL about real life, routine, and daily experiences. The learner will be able to deal with most routine communication and have enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication. Learners should be taught a number of regional variations in sign language.

The specification has been designed to be consistent with the National Language Standards at Level 2.

Course content

This British Sign Language qualification is divided into three units, each of which can be achieved separately.

To achieve the full Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language, candidates are required to achieve all three units.

Requests for Exam Accommodations

The request should include details of the accommodations required and any supporting evidence, such as a medical or professional report, explaining the student's needs.

Please note that any exam accommodations must be approved by the awarding body, Signature, before they can be put in place.

• Timetable Saturdays: Lessons take place from 9.30am to 2pm (there will be break throughout the lesson to rest and have lunch).
