South Asian Studies: Leicester and Immigration

Radio Leicester covered both the initial arrival of refugees from Uganda in 1972 and the subsequent development of South Asian communities in Leicester. It was also instrumental in the start of South Asian programming on the radio. We are grateful to Dr Liam McCarthy for this list of relevant programmes. For further reading, have a look at Dr McCarthy's blog about the programmes and his Phd thesis, Connecting with New Asian Communities: BBC local radio 1967-1990.

Please note that most of this material has not yet been fully catalogued and can only be listened to by appointment.
