This degree will provide you with a coherent selection of electrical and electronic engineering subjects to advanced level. Module combinations include communications and signal processing through control engineering to electrical machines and drives.

Good second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. You have the option of choosing to study this course ‘with industry’ in which a paid industrial placement forms part of your course, including your overall assessment through reflective learning. Whether or not you opt for the ‘with industry’ variant of the course, it is designed to give you the tools to work towards a career in a wide variety of fields in the engineering and technical industries.

Project

Project

After completing all the modules, you will apply the knowledge you have gained throughout the course to solving an engineering problem at a professional level. You will define the nature of the problem and draw up plans for tackling it, presented as a formal proposal (including a financial costing). Your project supervisor will meet regularly with you for feedback on the project.

Studying a 'with industry' masters degree is the perfect way for you to enhance your career prospects and deepen your understanding of your specific area of expertise. By experiencing real-world scenarios and applying your skills and knowledge to business challenges, you will gain a unique insight into how your studies can be utilised in industry. This will not only showcase your abilities to future employers, but will also enhance your studies when you return to University to complete your programme.

The 'With Industry' option is not available if you study part-time.

Teaching and learning

Teaching methods include lectures and seminars supported by practical and lab work. Assessment is a mix of open and closed exams and continuous assessment. Your dissertation will be assessed separately.
