English Language Teaching Unit

English for Business International Summer Programme

The English for Business International Summer Programme is ideal for business studies students whose first language is not English. It would also be beneficial for English learners who are interested in studying in a UK Business School in the future. This course has been designed and developed in collaboration between the Centre for International Training and Education and the University of Leicester School of Business, combining expertise in teaching English with the knowledge and insight of an internationally renowned business education and research community.

Aims

The main aim of the course is to develop participants’ ability to communicate in English, particularly in a business context. We focus on all four language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing but the main emphasis is on improving spoken English. In addition, the course aims to give an introduction to student life in a UK Business School, with a series of lectures introducing a range of contemporary business themes to support and underpin the business English classes.
