Diwali 2021

In our Centenary year, we were proud to sponsor Leicester City Council's annual Diwali celebrations. As Citizens of Change we believe in the transformative power of communities coming together and are witness to how it changes lives for the better.

After the 'Virtual Diwali' of 2020, enforced by the Coronavirus pandemic,it was an honour for the University of Leicester to be a key participant in the return of one of the city's largest and longest-running cultural celebrations. However, as Covid-19 remained a threat at this time,  the main entertainment stage was replaced by giant screens at three locations showing a recorded cultural programme.

The return of Leicester's 'Wheel of Light' was even referenced in the Prime Minister's 'Happy Diwali' message as an indicator that life was getting back to normal.
