We have a strong focus on Linguistics and English for Education and we are also jointly-home to the Centre for American Studies.

In addition, we house Languages at Leicester, which delivers the teaching of languages from across the globe and provides a major service both to the University and local community.

We accommodate visiting scholars supported by international scholarships, as well as a vibrant cadre of UK, European and international PhD students, who not only receive expert academic supervision but are supported throughout their studies by a dedicated programme of research and language training.

The School is in an excellent position to establish cross-cutting supervisory teams to accommodate innovative and imaginative interdisciplinary PhD topics, and we welcome all proposals.
