2121: Founders of the Future
Health
The University of Leicester has a recognised history of ground-breaking medical research with notable strengths in cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes and respiratory research, as well as kidney disease, genetics, ethnic health, lifestyle and the development of alternatives to antibiotics.
This sits alongside our stellar relationship with University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust, ensuring people benefit from Leicester’s scientific breakthroughs at pace.
Our health faces persistent, emerging and interconnected challenges including how climate affects health, infectious diseases (and the risk of another pandemic), antimicrobial resistance, and noncommunicable diseases like heart disease, diabetes and cancer where lifestyle can have a major impact.
