100 Hours Work-Related Learning

To be read in conjunction with the relevant programme specification.

Work-related learning

Work-related learning is “learning by doing”. It provides students with experience of applying their knowledge in a professional context or to a real-world challenge.

Depending on the subject, work-related learning activities might include such things as clinics, laboratory work, field work, work-based placements, consultancy challenges, simulations, and virtual internships. These types of activity may vary depending on the curriculum at the time.

All work-related learning activity at the University of Leicester:

  • Is developed with input from relevant employers and external organisations
  • Helps students to practice and develop critical skills, such as problem-solving and decision-making, by actively engaging with professional situations and tasks

Students who are based at our Leicester campus for only part of their programme

At present the 100 hours commitment applies to undergraduate programmes that are delivered in their entirety from our Leicester campus. We are exploring with our partners how we might extend this commitment to undergraduate students who are based at our Leicester campus for only part of their programme.
