Dr Isobel Whitelegg
Dr Whitelegg is an art historian who teaches on our museum studies master’s degrees. Her main area of research and interest looks at contemporary institutions and art in a global context. A specialist in Latin American art, Isobel’s work also examines collections that aren’t held and displayed in traditional museum settings.
How do you explain why art and culture is necessary and needed in the world? With the pressures of issues including austerity, it’s key that we’re able to clearly communicate the important roles that museums and collections continue to play in societies worldwide.
