Global Excellence Scholarship

To highlight our commitment to attracting the best and brightest students from around the world, we are delighted to offer 10 Global Excellence Scholarships which will award ten of the best postgraduate students with a £7,000 tuition fee discount for the 26-27 academic cycle.

What's on offer?

10 x £7,000 tuition fee discount scholarships to international fee-paying postgraduate offer holders (excluding India) who are starting a full time, master’s degree programme either in September 2026, January 2027 or April 2027*. 

*Please note that only PGT programmes from the College of Business are available with an April 2027 start.

What do I need to do?

Successful candidates will be ambitious individuals with a strong track record of achieving academic and personal excellence. To be considered, you need to create a short video (no more than two minutes) which answers these three questions:

1. Tell us your experience of achieving academic and/or personal excellence in your life to date.

2. What are your plans to build on these efforts after completing your chosen master's programme?

3. How will your chosen master’s degree help you achieve this?

Submit your video via the application form

Applications are now live and will close following the timeline set out below. Videos should be submitted as a link to Google Drive, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Wechat Video or Douyin in the section indicated in the application form.

We're not looking for film-making or acting skills, but instead how you approach and answer the questions. And you don’t need to be in the video yourself if you don’t want to be. Alongside the video submission we will also take into consideration your Personal Statement and any extracurricular activities you have highlighted in the application form.

In this category, we are looking at the feasibility of your plans to build on your past efforts. Is it possible and do your answers show you've given thought and consideration to the viability of your plans and your future?

Creativity

By creativity, we don't mean how good your video skills are. This is about your thought process, yourself and how you’ve approached the answers to the question. Does your application stand out from the crowd?

Impact

At Leicester, we are Citizens of Change working for a better future through diverse understanding and ambitious research. Through this scholarship we want to champion the best international postgraduate students to unite in our ambition to pursue knowledge that has an impact in making our world a better place. We will be looking at how much impact you have already made as well as how your future will impact the world for the better.

Scholarship and application information

Who is eligible?

You must be a postgraduate international fee-paying applicant holding an offer to study a Postgraduate Taught Programme from September 2026, January 2027 or April 2027. You must also possess a qualification equivalent to UK First Class (1st). Learn more about equivalent qualifications for your country.

Application Timeline

For courses starting September 2026: 

• Application deadline - Friday 19 June 2026
• Winners announced - Friday 24 July 2026
• Deposit deadline - Friday 31 July 2026

For courses starting January and April 2027:

• Application deadline - Friday 6 November 2026
• Winners announced - Wednesday 25 November 2026
• Deposit deadline for Jan intake – Wednesday 2 December 2026
• Deposit deadline for April intake – Thursday 28 January 2027 

Terms and Conditions

• You must be classified as an international student, (excluding students from India) for fee purposes. 
• This scholarship is not available for applicants domiciled (permanently living) in India. Find out more about Scholarships and discounts available for Indian students.
• You must be starting a full-time, campus-based master's degree (postgraduate degree), commencing in September 2026, January 2027 or April 2027. PGCE, postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma are excluded.  
• You must possess a qualification of higher-class degree (1st Class), which will be verified by your course application.
• If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfill any conditions stated on your offer letter.
• You must pay your deposit by the deadlines stated in the application timeline and submit proof of funds for the remaining fees and living expenses as required.  
• The award will be applied to tuition fees only and is not transferable. Successful students will still be required to fund the remainder of the tuition fee and their own accommodation and living expenses.  
• No other university scholarships or discounts may be applied in addition to this fee discount (unless explicitly stated).
• If you are a sponsored student, you may still qualify for this fee discount provided you meet all other eligibility criteria.  
• This fee discount applies only to the academic year in which you start your course (26-27), not the year you apply. If you defer your place to the following academic year, your fee discount will no longer be valid. You will be considered under the funding arrangements for the new academic year and will need to reapply.
