Blue sky thinking to show support for National Health Service

Our University will be backing the blue this week as it lights up its flagship medical building in celebration of 70 years of the National Health Service. The George Davies Centre will be bathed in blue light from 24 specially fitted LED lamps from 9:30pm on Thursday 5 July.

Physics students have captured breathtaking images of the Earth’s stratosphere using a high altitude weather balloon. The unmanned balloon and sensor payload reached an altitude of 23.6km, putting it at 1.7 times the altitude ceiling of a 747 airliner.
