Carbon Literacy Masterclass for Organisations
Micro, small and medium-sized organisations have a vital role to play in addressing the climate emergency. Whether your organisation is beginning its sustainability journey or already taking action, this accredited Carbon Literacy training will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to drive meaningful, measurable change.
Delivered in partnership with Now or Never, and certified by the Carbon Literacy Project, this programme provides a practical, engaging, and business-focused introduction to climate action. Participants will explore the carbon impacts of everyday organisational activities and learn how to take accountable action to reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and enhance strategic sustainability performance for your organisation.
This one-day course is either available in person or online, enabling organisations from across the UK to attend.

Course outline
The accredited one-day course is delivered through four focused modules that blend climate science, business relevance and practical action planning.
Module one: Climate Change and Its Impacts
An accessible introduction to climate science, carbon footprints and why this matters for organisational decision-making.
Module two: Policy and the Role of Organisations
A clear overview of the policy landscape, the responsibilities and the opportunities for micro-businesses, SMEs, and VCSE organisations, and the wider co-benefits of climate action.
Module three: Understanding Carbon Footprints
Exploring personal and organisational sources of emissions, supported by real-world case studies from across sectors.
Module four: Action and Communication
Developing your response and follow up actions for yourself and your organisation, and learning effective approaches for communicating climate issues within your organisation.
Your tutors
Alice Jackson
Alice is an accredited Carbon Literacy Trainer and sustainability professional at the University of Leicester, supporting organisations across Leicestershire to reduce their carbon impact and embed sustainable practices. Over the past year Alice has supported 419 organisations and provided one-to-one consultancy to 61.
She has trained more than 400 people in Carbon Literacy and was recognised at the 2025 Green Gown Awards for her work linking students with local SMEs to drive sustainable innovation. Passionate about translating university expertise into real-world impact, Alice is committed to helping organisations lead the transition to a low-carbon future.
Richard Garner
Richard is founder of Now or Never, who help organisations turn sustainability into their competitive advantage. He has trained and co-facilitated Carbon Literacy for hundreds of learners. He has been recruited by the UK government and leading UK businesses to share his passion and knowledge regarding how reducing carbon emissions relates to commercial and cost-saving benefits.
Richard was involved in the University of Leicester's Greener Future Leicestershire project and is delighted to have the opportunity to partner with the university more formally, extending the positive action that Carbon Literacy training and certification brings to business.
