The Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies offers pump-priming for interdisciplinary research through three funding programmes: LIAS Seed Corn, Into the City, and Pioneering Partnerships.
Pioneering Partnerships offers funding (up to £7,000) to develop existing ambitious, challenge-led collaborations, preparing the way for others to follow. Into the City aims to build and nurture co-created partnerships with organisations based in the city of Leicester. An initial £2,000 supports innovative public engagement and impact activity. LIAS Seed Corn promotes the enrichment of new activities and exploratory collaborations by offering up to £3,000.
The Centenary Community Engagement Fund, primarily supported through generous philanthropy of alumni, friends and donors, celebrates 100 years of the University. The scheme supports the Civic University Agreement, building connections with Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland organisational partners to enable academics and partners to Awarded projects seek to address the real-world challenges experienced by these organisations and the communities they serve through co-created, innovative projects.
LIAS previously funded The Research Network scheme (providing funding for up to two years of activity), and Tiger Teams (supporting projects lasting up to six months). In response to the Pandemic, LIAS introduced two schemes; The Urgency Response Scheme, and The Pandemics Scheme.
