Centre for Exoplanet Research

Facilities

We are a founder member of both SuperWASP (which won the Royal Astronomical Society group award) and the Next Generation Transit Survey, and part of the associated Planethunters NGTS Citizen science project.

We are also part of the JWST Guaranteed time for Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), Early Release and cycle 1 observations.

Our research area is highly successful at obtaining time on world leading research facilities, leading programmes on ALMA, the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescopes, Gemini 8m telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope, including involvement in the large programme Odysseus. We lead the ground based follow up for all the planetary discoveries from NGTS at the South Africa Astronomical Observatory.

We have also won 8.5 million hours on the DiRAC high performance computing facility for hydrodynamic and numerical simulations of planet formation.
