Profile

Hammad Afzal completed PhD in Computer Science (NLP) at the University of Manchester, UK, and have worked as a Research Fellow at the Insight Center for Data Analytics, University of Ireland, Galway. He earned an MSc in Advanced Computing Sciences from the University of Manchester, UK, where he was awarded the "Program Prize of the Year" from the Department of Computation for achieving the highest grades in MSc courses. His research interests include machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and applied ML in advanced domains such as smart healthcare, multilingual NLP, and information security. He has published over 100 research papers in prestigious international journals and conferences. His research has been supported by several grants, including a notable project funded by the Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) under the Artificial Intelligence for Global Health (AI4GH) initiative, titled "Advancing Maternal Health through AI-Powered Gestational Diabetes Prediction." He actively contributes to the academic community by serving as Chair, Co-Chair, and a member of the Technical Program Committee for several conferences, including WETICE, ICMMI, ICOSST, and MedPRAI. He also holds the position of Associate Editor for "Human-Centric Computing and Information Sciences", a Q1-ranked journal indexed by Scopus and WoS.
