Profile

I joined Leicester Law School in November 2019. I am co-editor of the Edward Elgar Research Handbook on Gender Sexuality and the Law. I hold an LLB (Hons) from Newcastle University and a PhD from Northumbria University School of Law. I am co-chair of the University of Leicester LGBTQ Equality Action Group Reviews Editor of the International Journal of Gender Sexuality and Law and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Co-Editor of the Edward Elgar Research Handbooks in Gender and the Law Series.

Research

My research focusses on the intersections of law gender sex and sexuality. I am interested in how the law changes shapes and effects people’s relationships and their sexuality encouraging or discouraging certain forms of sexuality and also the relationship of law and gender paticualrly for transgender people. I primarily research and write on relationship recognition for LGBTQ people and their lived experiences particularly same-sex marriage and civil partnerships informed by queer legal theory analysis. I am co-editor of the forthcoming Edward Elgar Gender Sexuality and Law: A Textbook. I have also published in Law and Literature.

He is Co-Editor of the Edward Elgar Research Handbooks in Gender and the Law Series.
