BBCs Crimewatch Roadshow comes to Leicester
The University will feature in an upcoming episode of BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow, which is due to be aired on Friday 23 June 2017.
Presenter Michelle Ackerley visited Leicester, where she met leading forensic scientists who are investigating historical mysteries and modern-day cases.
Professor Turi King, Reader in Genetics and Archaeology and Professor of Public Engagement, said: "The University has a long history of research within the field of forensic science from the invention of DNA fingerprinting through to the identification of the remains of King Richard III and beyond so it was great to host the BBC Crimewatch Roadshow to help raise Leicester's profile as a key player in this area of expertise."
Featured in the programme will be the work of Professor Sarah Hainsworth, who is a forensic engineer who studies stabbing and tool marks, Professor Rob Hillman who studies fingerprint marks on various surfaces, and Professors Guy Rutty and Stuart Hamilton’s work on non-invasive autopsies.
The episode also marks the 35th anniversary of Neighbourhood Watch with former police detective Rav Wilding.
