Museum Studies at Leicester
Open access policy
Museum and Society is a subscription free and wholly online open access publication. It does not charge readers for access to its contents on the principle that making research freely available supports and enhances global exchange of knowledge among readers and writers. As an open access journal Museum and Society stands for equity. We believe that combining openness for readers with the rigour of peer reviewed papers is in the best tradition of museums as democratic institutions. By the same token we do not charge authors for submission and publication. It is permitted for readers to download and share articles published in the journal under the terms of the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 creative commons license.
Whilst it is not a condition of access Museum and Society invites readers to register for news about forthcoming issues and museum related matters. Copyright remains with authors unless otherwise stated. Museum and Society permits pre-peer review publishing of submissions. Subject to certain conditions (see Notes for contributors) archived versions of articles accepted for publication may be maintained by their authors. This journal utilizes the PKP Private LOCKSS network (PLN) to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
