Postgraduate programmes
Medieval studies are key to many of the Masters programmes offered at Leicester. Some, such as the History MA, allow students to pursue a ‘medieval pathway’ throughout the course, and several others allow students to study medieval options and to pursue a thesis on a medieval topic under the supervision of one of our specialist staff.
All of our Masters programmes include core research training, so our students are well-equipped to pursue advanced research at MPhil and PhD level. Our Masters students can study medieval palaeography, ancient and medieval languages (Latin, Greek, Old English, Old Norse and Middle English) as well as ‘how to survive archives’, or archaeological techniques including artefact studies and landscape analysis (mapping and GIS).
