Canadian applicants

Canadian Citizens of Change scholarship

We are driven. We are determined. We are a force for good. While there is room for better, we will not stand idle. We are Citizens of Change.

In recognition of the outstanding contribution that students from Canada have made to our community and in celebration of 100 years of our institution working for positive change in the world, Canadian offer holders on the LLB courses are eligible to apply for our Citizens of Change scholarship. To be eligible for this award, you must make Leicester your firm choice, meet the conditions of your offer and go on to register on the course in September 2020.

How to apply

Simply email law@le.ac.uk to request a form on which you will need to explain how you have made a contribution to society (e.g. through voluntary work, community service, working for positive change locally or globally)and intend to continue this work toward positive change when you are in Leicester.

Deadline

Applications must be received by 31 July 2020, so there isn’t much time. The scholarship panel will make the awards in mid-August 2020 and successful candidates will be notified in late August 2020.

Eligibility criteria

You must hold an offer of a place to study on an LLB course full-time at the University of Leicester Law School beginning in September 2020.

The scholarship cannot be used for any other course.

Only available to Canadian citizens and Canadian residents.

If you are awarded the Canadian Citizens of Change scholarship as well as a higher value scholarship such as the President’s Scholarship or Canadian Entry Scholarship, you will be allocated one scholarship, whichever is the highest award. So, if you know that you will be awarded the President’s Scholarship of £4,000 per year of study, you will not benefit by applying for this scholarship.

Terms

The scholarship is valued at £3,000 per academic year, as a course fee discount, and will be renewed automatically over the three years of study (a total of £9,000) subject to satisfactory academic progress on the course. In the event that this progress has not been achieved, the University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship at the end of the relevant academic year. In the event that you transfer from the course, or suspend your period of study, the scholarship will discontinue.

This offer is only valid for 2020 entry provided that you select Leicester as your firm choice.

If you are uncertain about your eligibility or have any other queries about this discount, please contact law@le.ac.uk.
