2nd for the School of History’s research in REF2021
We are delighted with our recent performance in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), in which we placed second in the UK for our overall research quality (GPA) out of 81 submissions (according to analysis by the Times Higher Education).
In addition:
- 94% of our overall research was judged to be ‘world-leading’ (4*) or ‘internationally excellent’ (3*)
- Two-thirds of the real-world impact of our research was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in REF2021
The Research Excellence Framework is the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. REF2021 results were announced on Thursday 12 May 2022, you can find more details on the University’s overall performance.
