The Centre for Hate Studies

Manifesto for Change

Supported by Economic and Social Research Council Impact Accelerator Account funding, the Centre for Hate Studies and Protection Approaches partnered to create our co-written Manifesto for Change.

This Manifesto is a clear and empirically grounded set of ten recommendations. Within this work, we propose achievable, measurable and resource-efficient solutions and call for urgent change. Our work not only responds to immediate and longstanding challenges relating to hate crime, but also addresses wider issues of violent and online crime; general victim support, satisfaction and confidence; and social cohesion, resilience and community safety.

To create the Manifesto for Change, we conducted an in-depth review of both organisations’ extensive body of research evidence and conducted an extensive sector wide consultation that engaged with civil society, policy makers, those with lived experience, academics, practitioners and front line professionals from within and beyond the hate crime sector.
