The Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT

Leicester and Leicestershire SCITT is a well-established organisation offering both School Direct and School Centred routes to a PGCE, awarded by the University of Leicester.

We offer Early Primary (3-7) and Primary (5-11) courses working in partnership with over 75 local primary schools.  Our School Direct courses are led by five National Teaching School Alliances (TSAs), including a faith school TSA and Special School TSA.  In your placements, in 3 contrasting schools, you will be supported by the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons; you will also benefit from a year-long personal Quality Assurance tutor from the SCITT to maximise your development.

Core training and lectures take place in our two primary school bases  delivered by a mix of nationally recognised practitioners and teachers.  These interactive sessions, are designed to provide an outstanding subject knowledge base to underpin your teaching and the Masters level assignments and research.  As students of the University of Leicester, you enjoy full access to their excellent facilities including the library and e-learning resources.

We have been continuously graded by Ofsted as Outstanding since 2009, with excellent employment figures and extremely high levels of student satisfaction.
