On our MSc Management you will be provided with a strong foundation in the key functions of management while exploring the economic, social and political factors that shape organisational success.

Designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals, the course combines research-led insights with practical application, helping you understand how organisations operate and respond to complex global challenges.  You will develop valuable analytical, strategic and entrepreneurial skills, learning how to evaluate business issues, solve real-world management problems and make evidence-based decisions.

You will study a broad range of subjects including strategy, marketing, finance, accounting and economics, alongside the human dimensions of organisational life such as leadership, organisational behaviour and the management of people.  You will consider global value chains, e-commerce and the questions of risk and sustainability that increasingly shape how organisations act.  Throughout you will critically examine the environments in which managers operate, developing an informed appreciation of how organisations respond to them.

After the taught element of the course you will have the option to take a research-based dissertation or a placement in business through our With Professional Practice pathway. By undertaking this module, which includes an 8-week virtual internship, you could graduate with professional practice reflected in your degree title.

Throughout the course you will build transferable skills in critical thinking, independent research and responsible leadership, preparing you for management careers across a wide range of sectors.  You will leave equipped with the expertise, global perspective and ethical mindset needed to lead effectively and proactively to shape your future career.

A good UK honours degree or its equivalent, or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution, or a relevant graduate level professional qualification.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

With Professional Practice (optional)

Kick-start your career by adding With Professional Practice to your degree with a distinctive module that combines real-world experience with academic knowledge. Through an 8-week virtual internship, you'll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a professional setting. You'll explore key professional and research skills in engaging lectures and interactive workshops, and put these into practice during your internship.

Alongside this, you'll receive expert academic support as you work on a live business project informed by your internship experience. This project is designed to develop your ability to conduct commercially informed research, combining academic rigour with real business insight.

Throughout the module, you'll reflect on your development, helping you recognise your strengths and build confidence in your professional abilities. Your internship, reflective work, and final business project all contribute to your overall mark, ensuring you graduate not only with a strong academic foundation but with the practical experience, insight, and skills that employers value.

The With Professional Practice module will take place after the taught part of your degree.

Teaching and learning

You will be taught through a mixture of methods, including seminars, lectures, group work, case study analysis and guided reading. You will be assigned a personal tutor who has a pastoral role and can offer support and advice.

Your work will be assessed through both assignments and examinations, plus an 8,000-word dissertation.
