TESOL Taster

This Taster session is for University of Leicester staff and students, who are interested in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

The aim of these sessions is to give participants an introductory idea of what Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) involves for both learners and teachers; what knowledge and skills an ELT teacher needs and whether it’s something that you would like to do in the future

Sessions:

The sessions will be very practical with demonstrations of techniques and methodologies as well as an opportunity to try out some of the ideas in peer teaching slots.

  • Roles of the EFL teacher and learner
  • How to teach grammar
Session 2  19th

  • Classroom organisation
  • Peer teach something you know, e.g. "how to fold a T-shirt"

  • Instructions
  • How to teach skills
Session 4  3rd 
December  
  • Feedback and error correction
  • How to teach speaking
  • Looking forward

The sessions assume no teaching experience

Requirements: You must be a University of Leicester staff or student
Cost: Free

Time: Every Tuesday, starting 12th November, ending 3rd December 2019, 6 - 8PM.

TESOL Taster

You will be asked to log in with your University IT account before you can complete a registration form

** Registration is now closed **

You will get a certificate of attendance at the end if you attend all four sessions. TESOL Taster is recognised on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR). It is also a recognised extra-curricular activity for the Leicester Award. However, please note this course does not lead to a TESOL qualification
